The Season of Epiphany began on Wednesday, January 6th with the Day of Epiphany. We celebrate the Magi from the East who followed a star to Bethlehem to pay respects to the newborn king. The season lasts from now until Ash Wednesday on February 17th. It is the season of ‘showing forth’ and of ‘light.’
Jesus, the Light of the world…and our world is desperately in need of light as we find our way through this long dark winter of COVID-19 and the recent civil unrest in the US. May we continue to be the light and love for one another during these days.
Christmas Comes by Ann Weems
Christmas comes every time we see God in other persons. The human and the holy meet in Bethlehem or in [Holland Park], for Christmas comes like a golden storm on its way to Jerusalem – determinedly, inevitably…
Even now it comes in the face of hatred and warring – no atrocity too terrible to stop it, no Herod strong enough, no hurt deep enough, no disaster shattering enough.
For someone on Earth will see the star, someone will hear the angel voices, someone will run to Bethlehem, someone will know peace and goodwill: the Christ will be born!
